Can I place a hold on STEAM Kits?

Yes, you can place a hold on STEAM Kits. In addition, educators can contact library staff through the Virtual Reference Desk or Ask Us to book a virtual workshop for their classes, where students will have a chance to borrow and use the kits for themselves.

How do I pick up a STEAM Kit?

STEAM Kits can be picked up at Central Library. You must have an RHPL card in good standing to check out an RHPL STEAM Kit.

How long can I borrow a STEAM Kit?

You can borrow the kit for up to one week, with the option to renew so long as there are no outstanding holds on the kit. 

Will I receive fines on overdue STEAM Kits

We encourage all customers to return their items on time to allow other community members to use them. While the RHPL Library Board made the decision to waive all overdue fines for items borrowed between March 14, 2020 and Dec. 31, 2021, you will be charged for replacement costs associated with lost or damaged items. 

How do I return a STEAM Kit?

Kits must be returned inside Central Library during library hours; kits can’t be placed in our drop boxes. All items returned to our library locations are quarantined for 72 hours. Please wait three days to see these items removed from your account.
