Experience Invisible Threads Exhibit
Invisible Threads: Stories of Mothers, Migration and Resilience is a solo exhibition by artist Par Nair that examines the lived experience of diaspora, the complexities of intergenerational knowledge, and the invisible labour of women within the context of migration. Through her work, Par honours the women in her family and sheds light on voices historically silenced in colonized spaces. By carefully hand embroidering stories of mothers and daughters, Par explores the nuances of women’s labour to unravel the resilience and strength woven into the fabric of women’s lives.
Nair is an Indian born interdisciplinary artist and educator who lives and makes in the Greater Toronto Area. Her practice which centres around oil paintings, hand embroidery, installation, and creative writing focus on dual identities and fragmented realities of migrants.
