New Library CEO Appointed

The Board of Richmond Hill Public Library is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Bruce Gorman to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) after a nationwide search. 

Mr. Gorman comes to Richmond Hill Public Library with over 18 years of executive leadership experience in public libraries in Ontario and Nova Scotia, as CEO or Director. His accomplishments in public libraries include leading the international award winning $58M Halifax Central library project from vision to opening, along with the associated capital campaign raising in excess of $6.4M. 

More recently at Aurora Public Library, he completed a multimillion-dollar renovation and reimagination of the library space. As well, Bruce collaborated with the Town of Aurora envisioning the new $53M Town Square to include a bridge directly connecting the library to the new culture centre. 

He has a master’s degree in information management and a graduate certificate in information security management from Syracuse University in New York and is a graduate of the Directors Education Program through the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto, representing a cadre of the most sought-after board directors across Canada. He has had multiple national and provincial board appointments with a focus on healthcare and technology. 

Bruce Gorman will assume his duties on September 23, 2024.
